Nowruz in Olympia

  • Capitol Legislative Building 416 Sid Snyder Avenue Southwest Olympia, WA, 98504 United States (map)

Dear community members.

You are invited to join us for Nowruz in Olympia as we celebrate the New Year.

We are gathering at the Capitol Building in Olympia to advocate for the recognition of our collective identities. We will gather at the Capitol Building steps starting around 10 AM and take a group photo at precisely 10:30 AM. After the photo, we will head into the House chambers to observe the adoption of a House Resolution honoring Nowruz, then convene in the House Rules Room around 12:00 PM to begin our celebration with food, music, dancing, art, and speeches by special guests Gov. Bob Ferguson and A.G. Nick Brown. We will enjoy traditional food and refreshments alongside a display of the traditional haft seen table, performances of dance by Soraya Arjomand and Parmida Ziaei , and an exhibition of visual art by local community artists. Come dressed in your cultural attire to proudly showcase your heritage, and enjoy Hanif Zarrabi-Kashani dressed as Baba Nowruz.
